Herbs
Rosemary – easy perennial, bush, good on meat
Basil – tender annual (>40F), bushy, good for pesto and as companion plant for tomatoes
Peppermint- perennial, spreads everywhere (I have mine in a container), good for tea! Good companion for aphid prone plants
Lemon Balm- perennial, smells like lemon. I just got this and am still learning about it
Cilantro/Coriander- annual; leaves are cilantro, seeds are coriander; leaves are good in mexican dishes and salsa
Parsley- biennial; most tasty during first year
Garlic Chives- perennial; like chives except with garlic flavor, flatter leaves and white flowers
Strawberries- perennial, but generally only produce for 2-3 years. There are early and mid season varieties as well as those that produce throughout the warm season. Generally, the ones that produce throughout the season do not produce as many, if any runners. Runners are new crowns that the plants sends out. They will eventually make roots and you can cut them off from the main plant to make a new plant.
